Dr. Violet Naanyu is an associate professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences, School of Medicine, Moi University, she is also part of the AMPATH network and is a Co-PI on the STRENGTHS project in Kenya

Dr. Violet Naanyu is an associate professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences, School of Medicine, Moi University, she is also part of the AMPATH network and is a Co-PI on the STRENGTHS project in Kenya.
She also serves as a Co-Field Director of Research, Indiana University-Kenya Program, Eldoret; Member of the National Bioethics Committee, National Commission for Science Technology and Innovations, Kenya; Vice-Chair, NeuroGAP/DEV Africa Ethics Working Group Oxford University & Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research at Broad Institute, Cambridge, MA, USA; and committee member, Institutional Research and Ethics Committee (IREC), Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital/Moi University School of Medicine (MUSOM), Eldoret Kenya.

She holds MA Sociology (Indiana University, USA), MA Medical Anthropology (Univ. of Amsterdam, NL), and Ph.D. in Sociology (Indiana University, USA). Her research explores individual and socio-cultural factors around illness, health, and healthcare. She is particularly interested in research ethics and collaborative evaluations designed to improve care and research endeavors in resource-limited settings.
